Ink Marbled Paper

mindful marbling: intro to suminigashi

Leave your worries at the door and create beautiful patterns on the surface of water. In this mesmerizing class, you will learn the basics of suminagashi paper marbling.

Suminagashi, translated as “floating ink, ” is an ancient Japanese art form where ink is applied to the surface of water, manipulated to create beautiful patterns, and then transferred to a sheet of paper. From the first time your brush touches the water, you’ll be entranced.

During this workshop, your instructor Leah McKnight will help you to create at least four one-of-a-kind suminagashi art pieces. First, we’ll go over a number of different techniques you can use to create your marbled designs, and then you’ll be free to sink into the relaxing flow of marbling.
