BYOB: Build Your Own Bench with C. Muire

April 15, 2017 @ 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
** Sign up for one shift only. The first shift is 10:00am-2:00pm, and  the second shift is 2:00-6:00pm.
Join woodworker Celina Muire and learn how to make your own box-joint bench. It can also double as a small coffee table. All tools and materials will be provided. In this workshop we will go over the basics of assembling a simple box joint. Students will cut their own wood to size, assemble, and sand it down for a finish.
The “Box Joinery” used in this workshop imitates a finger-like joint when combined with calculated cuts. The concept can easily be applied to build larger tables, and this workshop provides a great foundation for using this simple, yet strong technique for adhering corners.
These benches will not be stained during the workshop, due to time constrictions. However, we will go over all types of staining and finishes so at the very least you will go home prepared and ready to stain your new bench.
Please wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. Protective eye wear will be provided.
Workshop participants go home with:
-Their own bench/coffee table
-Free apron with goodies
-Bragging rights
Refreshments will be provided
(BYOB is merely a pun used for the title, no alcohol consumption will be allowed during this workshop. However, celebrations are encouraged after the completion of the workshop)
